Just a thought along the same lines, wouldn't it be nice to have an internal arena within the guild, where the leader/officers could set it up anyway they wanted to? Including 1v1, 1v3, random selection of players for teams, preselection for team, etc...

yeah, 1v2 or 1v3 can be great.
you can test out shutdown builds and builds that are ment to kill a certain enemy, in a situation that is more fitting.

TOTALLY up for this, especially to get n00bs to shape up and learn to alter their CA builds.
Not only should there be a seperate arena in my opinion, but there needs to be /duel x control that will challenge x to a duel. If th other player accepts, theygo into the 1v1 arena together.

You can also show tyour fellow guildies that you need work as a team when killing a monk. Coz sometimes they just attack 1 by 1. and dont follow the calls. You as a monk, he/she as a warrior. And then he gets a lesson learned by you: he can't kill you in his own

There would be entirely too many draws since this game isn't based on elitism, most everyone would have the max equipment. So, you put two alike W/Mo's in the same arena they will beat their heads against each other all day and night. It's not a feasable type of play for this game. Maybe WOW or Everquest, but, not here.

Now HERE's an idea that nobody seems to care about...
In the Guild Hall, say your guild has 16 people online...
How about an in guild fight? Fight your own guild members in an 8v8 match to work something out?
THEN
If you wanted a 1v1 fight, it'd be easy to do as well...
Omg, is that so hard to ask?

Everyone should atleast agree that a 1v1 duel system would make an excellent pacifier for idiots.

No, it wouldn't work. Because 1on1 has nothing to do with skill. And that is the problem. If you want 1on1 for testing stuff and sparring and just for fun - I have nothing against it.
But your argument makes it clear how devastating 1on1 would be. Because everyone will think in 1on1 the better player will win and that is totally untrue. Even the dumbest guy can defeat a top level player just because he has the counter build.
So if you want 1on1 and please, want it for the right reasons. A dueling would be for fun, for sparring, for wasting time - it won't mean anything.

1v1 should be an option for a guild arena (an arena available to be played and setup by the guild and it's guests only). It doesn't mean much though based on who wins because for every build, there is an anti-build. The question is, who picked the right one for that particular battle.

i dont like the idea of having 1v1 in the guild hall...
what if nobody in your guild is online?
there should simply be an area where you can either go random, fighting against your own profession, or chalenge, where you challenge somebody...
i dont think there should be any reward for this, and i think the battles should stop after 5 minutes. if both are alive, it's a tie.
last thing, the arena should be tiny...
that's my opinion about this...

Yes 1v1 ftw.
Im so sick of playing with teams and having to rely on people. Honestly if this ever comes out im spending all my time in 1v1 arenas. They should make the scoring best out of 3 or highest points in 5 minutes. I think they should add like blue emotes or some other color to show your solo abilities. I know it doesnt say anything about your team skills but honestly who cares. Its not like this game is so focused on "Guild wars" anyway.
The only problem i see would be some monk coming in and winning through boredom. I could survive anyone with my monk 1v1. So maybe they could add in some damage calculator and at the end of the match, the one with the highest damage output wins. Monks and mesmers would be the two most "pwning" classes for this type of arena. Although maybe the new characters will be better than i think.
Also it would give you the chance to settle your differences with some bloated egos out there. I would say more on that thought but i dont think id like to start a flame war about the current ranking system.

Umm, isnt that how the game is now? You run a build and it has its weaknesses. When a team kicks your ass, are they not better than you? Did they not win the fame and add GG at the end of the match? You cant win them all. Believe it or not someone will be at the top of the 1v1 line because his/her build will have the counter to most builds out there. Through his own intelligence of course.
What exactly makes you a top player in this game? The guy who spends 24/7 in tombs because he has no job or is retired etc.? Why is he better than you? Because he has the time (or chooses to invest his time) to reach insane amount of fame?
Its funny how the (time means nothing) policy is imaginary in this game. Without the time you would never be a high rank. Personally i would not spend weeks in tombs to catch up to the guys at the top. I have been around as long as most of them. Are they better than me? No. They just have been grinding in tombs for longer.
I think everyone plays this game the same. The only thing that makes you better is your build. If someone kicks your ass in the arena, then you LOST. Same for this 1v1 thing. You had the choice of what build to bring. If you could not cover all of your ends then expect to lose.
For example i was in tombs last night and this is all i saw "R6 group looking for R6+ players" or switch it around for R9 and so forth. Its lame and totally against what this game supposedly stands for. I know the people at these ranks earned them. Im not trying to insult the work they have done. But all your work doesnt make you better than anyone else in any way. I would say that your most likely more experiences because you have ran the tombs at least once or twice but thats about it. This game isnt rocket science and im sick of the closed mentality of tombs today.
1v1 is totally legitimate and it gives people an alternative to grinding in the tombs with people so stuck up in their own @$$.
End of Truth.

I had a 1 on 1 duel today. Are you wondering how?
What happened is;
I spawned at the RoF PvP map. And one way or another everyone quit on my team except me. So i asked everyone on the opposing team (via public chat) to fight me 1 on 1. They did. They sent a warrior and we fought (i won).
I think this would definetly work, once enough PvP'ers caught on to this form of arranging a fight. It was alot of fun. I'm sure there are many more GW players who'd love to have duels. Maybe if enough people start asking for 1 on 1 fights in game, it could really catch on.
PS I havent read the rest of the thread so sorry if i went off topic.
